Ok Dr. Campbell. Sorry for the change of topic again. But Abbie and I are now leaning towards internet privacy, and how private your infomation really is, if it’s meant to be on the internet or not. We are also going to explore what information you can gather from the internet about someone without even knowing them. I think this is going to work out well, and Abbie and I have already found some great information.
Interesting project, but I have two quick thoughts (cautions, also). 1) The topic of “Internet privacy” is very, very broad. Can you think about how you might narrow it down to privacy in one area or type of thing? Privacy concerns can range from identity theft to the kind of MySpace harassment that ended in the suicide we talked about earlier in the term. Privacy also has a hook into higher education with FERPA. And so forth. 2) Be cautious with your project, as trying to gather information about someone without knowing them might be seen (especially by that person!) as an invasion of privacy. Let’s talk. I don’t want to discourage you, but there are some things it would be useful to think through together.
